Sejarah lahirnya Desa Sappa adalah hasil pemekaran dari Desa Wele , tapi Sappa sudah ada sejak jaman dulu, dalam bahasa Bugis artinya sama atau persegi panjang sama lebar,itu berarti suatu daerah yang subur yang dikelilingi sawah dan kebun ditengah-tengahnya melintang sungai Bila sepanjang 15 Km dan dihilir terdapat Danau CacaE dan Lapongpakka ,setelah pemekaran dan definitif Sappa dibagi dalam Tiga dusun Yaitu Bola Mallimpong,Lonra dan Tippulu.

Pemerintah pertama di Desa Sappa ( dulu Desa Wele ) dipimpin oleh H.BAHARUDDIN yang masa jabatannya berakhir tahun 1967. Tahun 1967-1975 dipimpin oleh M.YUSUF , Sedangkan Tahun 1975 – 1983 yang menjadi Kepala Desa ANDI CINTA. Setelah Difenitif Tahun 1983 Kepala Desa Pertama adalah USMAN URU dan Menjabat sampai Tahun 1991 Priode Kedua Tahun 1991 – 1999 SAKE TAKKO, Sappa dibagi menjadi 3 Wilayah Yaitu Wanua Lonra, Wanua Bola Mallimpong dan Wanua Tippulu. Priode selanjutnya Tahun 2000 – 2008 Dipimpin olen MAHYUDDIN KURUDA, Sedangkan Tahun 2008-2014 Di Pimpin Oleh PALALOI URU, SE dan tahun 2015 – 2021 di pimpin oleh MUSTAKIM,S.Pd., M.Si.

Pemilihan Kepala Desa Sappa tahun 2021, diikuti Empat Kandidat di antaranya, H. AMIR ALI, H. SYAMSUDDIN L ,S.Pd, Drs. H. SYAMSUL BAHRI, PALALOI URU, SE dan MUSTAKIM, S.Pd., M.Si dan sebagai kandidat terpilih yakni MUSTAKIM, S.Pd., M.Si sebagai Kepala Desa Sappa Priode 2021 - 2027. Desa Sappa dibagi menjadi 3 Dusun yaitu Dusun Lonra ,Dusun Bola Mallimpong dan Dusun Tippulu. H. Muh. Arif Junaidy sebagai Kepala Dusun Lonra, Syarifuddin sebagai Kepala Dusun Tippulu dan Ambo Ala sebagai Kepala Dusun Bolamallimpong.

Desa Sappa merupakan salah satu dari 9 Desa diwilayah Kecamatan Belawa dengan Luas Wilayah 1.854,12 Km, Koordinat Bujur 119.973869 dan Koordinat Lintang -3.954344. Desa ini terletak 7 Km ke Arah Utara dari Ibukota Kecamatan Belawa Desa Sappa memiliki wilayah batas – batas Wilayah Desa :

Sebelah Barat : Desa Ongkoe

Sebelah Selatan : Kelurahan Malakke

Sebelah Timur : Desa Wele

Sebelah Utara : Desa Kampale Kab. Sidrap
